Helping hungry kids and busy parents…
Welcome to my world…. this has been a very long time coming…with many detours along the way… but I’m finally here and super excited to share my passion with you around healthy foods for the whole family. And what better time to launch than ahead of the British Nutrition Foundation’s Healthy Eating Week next month.
It’s one of their flagship programmes engaging with schools, teachers and children about the importance of eating both healthily and sustainably - subjects that I’ve literally begun to live, eat and breathe of late through further education courses, podcasts and bedtime reading.
I hope I’ve found a little local niche here in Oxshott and the surrounding areas, to support busy parents and make healthy snack options and ‘hands-on’ educational workshops available to children in the area. So what can I offer:
Take a look at my small but carefully selected range of homemade and wholesome snacks, available for local collection on a weekly basis, or delivery by prior arrangement - making life a little easier for everyone. I aim to adopt an eco-friendly approach to packaging where possible and encourage a refill option for my gorgeous granola, using beautiful glass jars sourced from a small British brand.
(Note: my granola is currently the only option for shipping UK wide, all other items are available for local orders only at present)
Assemblies and workshops in local schools (- with a special interest in working with children with additional needs who often have more complex challenges around food), emphasising the importance of a Healthy Diet and explaining what this really means through fun concepts such as ‘Eating the Rainbow’ and ‘Healthy Body, Happy Me’. This is, of course, topical not only during ‘Healthy Eating Weeks’ but as an essential part of the curriculum all year round to develop skills in PSHE, Design & Tech, Science, Numeracy and Literacy. Talk to me about possible funding options and my experience of working in schools to date.
Although not a physical van ( - maybe one day who knows!), my ‘Smart Snack Tuckshop’ concept is a fun way to instigate conversations about the types of food that provide good fuel for our body and mind throughout the day. It’s my aim to make a small move away from the traditional after-school ‘cake sales’ and ‘sweet treat’ rewards by introducing delicious and more nutritious homemade snacks to temp those young tastebuds into forming healthier daily habits. As a mum of two gorgeous children, who still need lots of my energy, love and support; this is a project I hope to develop over time around family life. Although what better way to bond than all be in the kitchen together sampling bakes and creating a happy household fueled by positive energy and a more natural diet?
